Darth Vader, originally known as Anakin Skywalker, is a prominent character in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas. He first appeared in the original trilogy, consisting of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977), "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980), and "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" (1983).

Anakin Skywalker was a Jedi Knight who fell to the dark side of the Force, becoming Darth Vader under the influence of Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious. Anakin's transformation into Vader was a result of his fear of losing his loved ones and his desire for power to prevent their deaths.

Darth Vader is known for his iconic black armor and helmet, which he wears to sustain his life after sustaining severe injuries during a lightsaber duel with his former Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The armor also serves as a reminder of his new identity as a Sith Lord and enforcer of the Emperor's will.

As Darth Vader, he becomes one of the most feared figures in the galaxy and serves as the right-hand man of Emperor Palpatine. Vader is known for his mastery of the Force, particularly his skill with a lightsaber. He is a formidable adversary and has a commanding presence.

Despite his allegiance to the dark side, Darth Vader experiences moments of conflict and ultimately redeems himself by sacrificing his own life to save his son, Luke Skywalker, in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi." This act of selflessness and his final rejection of the dark side lead to his transformation back into Anakin Skywalker, becoming one with the Force.
